Review: Modern Warfare 2 (360)
+'s
-it's the sequel to COD4: Modern Warfare (and made by Infinity Ward)
-Multiplayer is improved in every way (more perks, kill streaks, new death streaks, etc.)
-Campaign is maybe even better than COD4, more intense, and possibly more difficult
-graphics are better than COD4
-Spec Ops is very well done and extremely fun(Co-op piece is a distinct and well crafted part of the game; it's not just added on)
-you can control vehicles in certain situations
-'s
-if you didn't like COD4, you probably won't like this
Neutral
-Spec Ops has levels based on Campaign missions from COD4 and MW2, but it is not true Campaign Co-op
-Veteran mode is as challenging as ever, maybe even more so
Overall, Infinity Ward took the huge expectations as a challenge and delivered in spades. Every aspect of this game is improved from the outstanding COD4. It truly feels like there are 3 aspects of the game that were given equal attention: Campaign, Multiplayer, and Spec Ops. This is easily one of my all-time favorite games and should be played by everyone.
Review: Borderlands (360)
+'s
-drop in/drop out co-op campaign (up to 4 players)
-tight controls, cool graphical style, and good sound
-good humor (Claptrap especially)
-4-different player classes, ability trees, etc.
-tons and tons of guns and loot to find
-good replay value
-'s
-it's an Unreal Engine game, so it can be a bit unstable at times (floating dead enemies, invisible items that are still accessible, etc.)
-lame ending
-combat can feel a bit repetitive
Neutral
-open world game in every sense (lots of backtracking)
-money loss is only penalty for death (and bosses gaining their stamina back)
Overall, this is the great new IP that Gearbox needed. They even created a new genre, what they call a "looter shooter." This one can get pretty addicting, and is tough to put down.
