So, I learned the hard way that the Alesis pedal actually does not work for the original Rock Band drum kit (even with the 1/4" to 1/8" adapter). Damn my ignorant optimism! Rock Band does not read the pedal being depressed at all (it actually behaves as though you're depressing the pedal if you disconnect and then reconnect the plug to the drum controller). I thought it was a bad sign when I noticed the elaborate connector on the Alesis pedal, and my worries were confirmed.
TIP OF THE WEEK/MONTH/YEAR: Only buy licensed products that the developer has confirmed are compatible.
